Affidavit FAQ
What is an affidavit used for in the UAE?
Affidavits in the UAE are used for a wide range of purposes: embassy and visa applications, family court proceedings, insurance claims, property matters, employment disputes, and declarations required by foreign government bodies. They carry legal weight because they are sworn statements made before a licensed notary.
Can I have an affidavit translated into another language?
Yes. We provide certified Arabic-English bilingual affidavits as standard. If you need the affidavit in another language for an embassy or foreign institution, we work with certified translators.
How quickly can I get an affidavit notarized in Dubai?
For straightforward affidavits, same-day service is available if you visit our Deira office in the morning. WhatsApp us your requirements in advance to ensure we have the right format ready.
Does an affidavit need to be attested after notarization?
Depends on the purpose. For use within the UAE, notarization is usually sufficient. For submission to a foreign government or institution, you may also need MOFA attestation, and possibly the relevant embassy attestation. We advise on the full process.
Can someone sign an affidavit on my behalf?
No. An affidavit is a sworn personal statement. You must appear in person and sign it yourself. If you are unable to attend, there may be alternative legal instruments available; contact us to discuss your situation.
